Caunes Minervois is a medieval village with narrow streets and sand-colored houses around its 8th century abbey.

Caunes, world capital of red marble (Versailles, Paris Opera), in Languedoc-Roussillon, country of Aude, is surrounded by vines at the foot of the Montagne Noire and invites you to stroll.

Several local winegrowers will be happy to show you around their estate, not to mention the essential tasting.

For those with sea legs, a boat trip on the Canal du Midi is a must.

The village has a very rich historical and cultural heritage, near Carcassonne (20 min), Narbonne (40 min), Bézier (50 min), the Canal du Midi (15 min) - UNESCO world heritage - or Cathar castles; all destinations alone worth the trip. ( www.audetourisme.com )

You are also less than 2 hours from the Pyrenean ski slopes and less than an hour from the Mediterranean.
